This month our journaling workshop with Beth Morris Workshops will explore creative journaling and artistic activities linked to wellbeing.  In a friendly environment with lots of cake you’ll be taught the benefits of creative bullet journaling. Journals are the modern day equivalent of a diary but these days they are filled with visuals, imagination and inspiration to keep daily life on track!

You will be asked to join in with some guided tasks, but the main purpose of the workshops are to give you ideas so you can create at leisure during the month. The journalling activities are mindful and encourage a sense of wellbeing.

A workshop learning how to start a bullet journal and the benefits of documenting your life creatively. The focus will be on creating a journal for day to day life where you address positivity and wellbeing.

This workshop will introduce the way you can use creative page spreads to log your life, document things to look forward to, note your self-care practice, list things to be grateful for and also track your moods, habits and behaviour. It will also help you to understand how you can plan your days creatively so the pages become something to treasure in the future. How many of us write ‘to do’ lists on scraps of paper and then lose them? A journal will help you keep all your thoughts in one place. It is a way to organise the chaos in your brain in a clam creative way. Beth will run through a few simple warm up activities to introduce some of these journalling ideas.

All art supplies will be provided. Bring your own dotted grid journal or journal paper will be provided until you catch the stationery bug and buy your own!

Every time Beth runs a journaling workshop here at Let Them See Cake, the tasks and creativity will be different. Beth will not repeat what we did the pervious months, she will make every session relevant for new attendees or people who come to every session. So its suitable for first-timers or regular ‘journalers.’

A word from Beth Morris:

Founder and Director of a little community art school based at Insole Court in Cardiff. I am an educator, creator and motivator in all things art and craft. One of the things that makes Beth Morris Workshop stand apart from other places that offer art workshops is the true essence behind the business which is to help people and promote a positive attitude through creativity. The basis of this comes from my own story. I took ten years off work to be a ‘stay at home mum’ to my three children. Before this I was a senior fashion lecturer and successful author of two fashion illustration books published world-wide. When my girls started school, I found
it difficult to find employment as I’d been off work for so long. It was a low time for me. I lost confidence and self-belief. But I was still me. I still had the same skills (if not more!) So making a decision to create my own job was a big thing! I thank my lucky stars for every job interview that didn’t go my way....because the interview I gave myself to start a community art school was
indeed the most important one, and guess what? I got the job! Basically, I combined my creative knowledge and life skills to teach others to enjoy art and all the therapeutic qualities it possesses. Beth Morris Workshops has become an award winning hub for wellbeing, creativity and socialising. We have 20 regular weekly workshops running for all ages and abilities taught by 4 tutors. Artists and makers from across the county run specialist guest workshops at weekends. And we also run funded classes for people living with brain injury and young people who have experienced barriers to art education.
The community I have built has become a positive place for us all. The
opportunities like exhibitions, commissions, tv and radio programmes that
come our way have been incredibly exciting…and I have so much more up my
sleeve!

My favourite quote is from Albert Einstein and states “Creativity is
contagious....pass it on” This sums me up really. I was made to pass on the
creativity to others.
