Brunch Kitchen Assistant / FOH Runner

Hours: Part-Time (16hrs/week - Mainly Weekends)
Department: Kitchen
Location: Let Them See Cake, Cardiff (CF5 1BE)

We have a unique career opportunity for an enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant who has a natural eye for detail, a minimum of 1 year’s experience in a kitchen or hospitality environment, and is organised and prepared to work both individually and as part of a team.
 

This role would be well-suited to a college student, as it consists primarily of weekend shifts with the potential to increase hours outside of term-time. For the right candidate, there is scope to grow and increase your role within the company, potentially progressing on to a full time role after completing your studies.

We are a small, close-knit team and we are searching for a positive, proactive individual with a can-do attitude, strong team spirit, and a sense of responsibility, professionalism, and pride in their work.

The role entails:

  • Plating up brunch dishes

  • Preparing sandwiches and plating up for afternoon tea service

  • Washing dishes

  • Maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment

  • Assisting main brunch chef

  • Running dishes to tables

  • Clearing tables FOH

  • Part-time 3 month probationary contract (reviewed after 3 months with the potential to extend to a permanent position)

The ideal candidate must:

  • Be dedicated to understanding our brand and products

  • Assist in the preparation and production of quality brunch dishes

  • Prepare plates to a high standard

  • Support Brunch Chef de Partie and other team members

  • Help with deliveries, restocking, and stock rotation

  • ​Maintain and adhere to 5* Food Hygiene standards (Level 2 Food Safety qualification is desirable)

  • Have excellent communication skills in English

  • Have at least 1 year’s experience in a kitchen or hospitality role

  • Have the ability to commute reliably to work at Let Them See Cake in Cardiff (CF5 1BE)

  • Conduct themselves in a professional manner, even in busy or high-pressure situations

  • Be a team player who is respectful and supportive towards other team members

  • Be eager to learn and willing to work hard​

Experience:

  • Kitchen or Hospitality environment: 1 year (essential)

  • Level 2 Food Safety qualification (desirable)
